Checkmate has had a long association with TKM as our principal agent for Australasia for tooling in the wood industry. TKM stands for "The Knife Manufacturers".
Under one umbrella there are more than one dozen companies in 11 countries in Europe, America, Asia and also numerous marketing and service companies which operate on an international basis for TKM Knife and Tooling. We have been exceptionally proud to have their brand under the Checkmate umbrella.

Our key customers have grown to rely on the quality and consistency of TKM Knife Steel for Chippers, Lathe Knives and for the Planer Knife market also.
The registered office of the group, which cultivates worldwide business relations, is located in Remscheid, Germany. Continuous research into further developing materials and production processes, as well as decades of experience have made the TKM Group a global player and one of the greatest knife specialists.

Many of the product developments have been governed by close cooperation with leading machine factories, and with the wood- processing industry. Production extending over more than 100 years has led to a product line with over 900 different knife typologies.
This partnership-type cooperation has yielded innovative tools and cutting solutions distinguished by new materials, improved hardening methods and the narrowest tolerance ranges.
